Britain is in a miserable situation. Inflation is close to a 40-year peak at 10.7%. The country is seized by the most widespread strike wave in decades, with nurses, bus drivers, and railway employees among those striking this month over salary disagreements. Nevertheless, the NHS is dealing with a backlog of almost seven million individuals waiting for treatment after halting numerous non-urgent surgeries during the COVID-19 epidemic. According to the Bank of England, the GDP will drop by 1.5% this year and may continue to fall in the first half of 2024.

The party leader is looking to build a better future and is focusing on people’s priorities. He has released a five-point plan for the economy’s improvement. Firstly, he looked to halve inflation this year to give people financial security and ease their cost of living. Secondly, he wants to build an innovative economy, which results in more job opportunities and higher pay. Third, he wants to make sure the national debt falls to secure the future of public services. Fourth, he wants to bring down the waiting lists for the National Health Service to get people the care they need. And lastly, to tackle illegal immigration, pass new laws.

The five pledges by Sunak:

  • This year, we're halving inflation to ease the cost of living.

  • Creating better-paid job opportunities across the country.

  • reducing the national debt to secure the future of public services

  • Cutting NHS waiting lists and speeding up care for patients

  • Passing laws to stop small boats and swiftly remove illegal arrivals.

At last, the party also made a statement about his plan to make mathematics compulsory for all students until the age of 18. Sunak also promised to work day and night for the betterment of the people and the country. Sunak conveyed that people want the government to focus less on politics and more on the things they care about.
