Data Concerns

The study shows that the majority of the respondents have claimed that their location and other data have been shared with the online dating application to access the app. Most of the users are not sure whether their personal information that has been shared with the app and through the app is secured.

Why do people turn to online dating?

The study shows that the majority of consumers turn to online dating for casual relationships, and a smaller number of people don't know yet.

Images

As per the study, most of the consumers were comfortable sharing their pictures online in the application, but some were not comfortable sharing their pictures online on a dating profile.

Harassment

Most of the users have not been harassed by any fellow users, according to the study, but there are cases where the user has been harassed by a fellow user and has also filed a complaint.

Beforehand Research

Many of the users agreed that research is done beforehand before going on a date with a fellow user.

Out of the box

Most of the users prefer to contact other users through other apps with their personal social media accounts rather than communicating within the app itself, which may lead to possibly dangerous situations.

As for the question of whether people blame dating applications for the safety of the individual, 42.9% of the respondents agree with the statement that the app is responsible for the individual's safety, 42.9% do not blame the app, and 14.3% may or may not agree with the statement. In the digital era, many people rely on the internet for various things. As simple as that is, people also rely on online dating apps, especially during and after the COVID-19 lockdown. People have various reasons to rely on an online dating applications. There are so many instances where cases of crime have been committed through people met on online dating apps, but those cannot be blamed on online dating applications. It is merely an online platform with online dating services presented through a mobile phone application.
